We’re excited to be welcoming Shade Studio back to Tomtit Farm for another creative workshop: Introduction to Watercolours with Anna Engels.
This hands-on session is designed to gently introduce you to the medium of watercolour in a relaxed, supportive environment, surrounded by the gardens and seasonal abundance of Tomtit Farm.
Meet the Artist
Anna Engels, founder of Shade Studio, is a botanical artist, cut flower grower, and passionate carer of our natural environment. Her work is deeply informed by a love of Aotearoa New Zealand’s native ecologies and a belief that art can foster deeper care and connection with the natural world.
What to Expect
During the workshop, Anna will guide you through the fundamentals of watercolour painting, including technique, observation, and working with colour. You’ll select your own fresh organic flowers and vegetables from the garden to use as inspiration, allowing each artwork to be entirely unique.
The session is suitable for beginners and those wanting to refresh their skills. No prior experience is needed.
What’s Included
A guided watercolour workshop with Anna Engels
All watercolour materials provided
Fresh seasonal flowers and produce from the garden
One finished A4 watercolour artwork to take home
Why We Love This Workshop
This workshop is about slowing down, observing nature closely, and enjoying the process of creating something by hand. It’s a chance to step away from busy schedules, connect with the garden, and leave with both artwork and inspiration.
If you’ve ever wanted to try watercolour painting in a calm, welcoming setting, this workshop is for you.
Sunday 1st March 10:30 am - 12:30pm
